Report on Virtual Forum 2020

Whilst Holiday Forum is historically a week-long, annual retreat focussing on fellowship and reflections on faith this year we celebrated its 25th birthday online. Around 100 people met virtually over a weekend in August, hearing from speakers based in the US, Palestine, Germany and South Africa, as part of the celebratory conference.

Forum’s vice-chair, Colum O’Shea, said: ‘Covid-19 has stopped many things, but not the 25th anniversary of Holiday Forum. Despite being unable to meet at the Hayes Centre, Swanwick, much has gone in to bringing a virtual holiday forum to homes around the UK and beyond. Featuring input from church discipleship consultant Lawrence Moore, URC minister Alistair Smeaton and our chaplain, Revd Lola Brown, the event incorporated both UK-based and international voices.

Next year’s Holiday Forum is planned to include a combination of online and in-person events running alongside each other. You will be able to find out more details on this website when they are available.
