Forum 2011 Theme : Expect the Unexpected

Dates : Saturday 20th August to Friday 26th August 2011

Leaders : Rev Paul Floe (Theme), Rev Jenny Mills (Worship) and Cathy & Jason Foxwell (Music)

In 2011, prepare to encounter something different at URC Holiday Forum...

The theme leader this year is Rev Paul Floe, minister to Trinity Church (methodist & URC) in Porthcawl, South Wales.  Paul will be introducing us to some of the characters in the bible in a completely different, and sometimes humorous, way.  Paul's ministry has led him to Trinity from Wellingborough, Jamaica, Lincoln and Malawi.  He only went out of Wales on a day trip but his wife, Jean, was map reading (just kidding!).

Worship will be lead by Rev Jenny Mills, minister to Newport Pagnell URC and working with Milton Keynes Christian Fellowship.  Jenny has been a minister for 2 years before which she was a primary school teacher for 21 years.  Jenny wants worship to be inclusive and inspiring, loud and quiet, challenging and calm.

Music will be led by Cathy & Jason Foxwell, members of Trinity Church Totton (Southampton).  Cathy & Jason will bering a different dimension to the music this year and will introduce some new worship songs as  well as presenting some older songs and hymns in a different style.

Some quotes from previous Forums:

Quote from a first timer (Forum 2010) - The welcome has been full of warmth and smiles!

Since I retired in 1982 this is my only summer holiday and strengthens me for the next 12 months.

Thanks for everyone being friendly and welcoming.

Everyone is to be congratulated on an excellent week overall - thank you from a first timer.

I have attended other such forums, but this is unique. It is a must in my calendar and I hope I shall be able to attend for many years to come.

People are welcoming and inclusive to people on first time visits.

Quote from Forum 2005 attendee - "The uniqueness of Holiday Forum is its ability to be inclusive. It unites all people as a family and treats all individuals as human beings."

Quote from a first timer (Forum 2004) - "it was great to walk into such a welcoming atmosphere and meet such friendly people, can't wait till next year."

Quote from Revd Dr David Cornick - General Secretary of the URC at General Assembly 2004 - "Holiday Forum is a jewel in the crown of our church."
